Internship Report Simon-san

I am from Vancouver, Canada and I majored in marketing. I have always adored the advertisements and marketing strategies of cosmetic companies to reach its consumers in ways that move them and encourage them to purchase beauty products. Thus, I have interned at Musketeer to gain experience in this industry in Japan.

I did my internship from September 2009 to February 2010. My main job was to contact foreign companies to see if they have interest in exporting their quality products for retail sale in Japan. It was a fun experience to go to countless web pages looking at many interesting designs of perfume bottles and exciting graphics. Once we have found an interesting product, we then meet with the president of the company to decide if that product will do well in Japan. When there is a positive outcome from the meeting, we contact the foreign company right away via telephone or email. It was fun to speak to these companies in their foreign languages.

In December, I went to China and Korea with our president on a business trip. There, we went to many factories to observe their way producing perfumes and how they ship out their products to other foreign countries. It was a very fulfilling experience to engage in business meetings and discuss terms of contracts.

Currently, for the products we have imported we are in the process of starting marketing campaigns to promote the sale of the products in Japan. We do our sales via the Internet, mobile phone websites, and physical stores.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience working at Musketeer and I would definitely go back to there to gain more experience in the Japanese perfume and cosmetic industry.
