Hello, my name is Mike from Schorba near Jena in Germany. I'm studying Japanese and enjoy Japan since March 2010. I'm going to stay here for 1 Year and want to write about my daily life experience here in Fukuoka . Of course the differences between German and Japanese culture is big. So there are lots of problems and things to realize, I want to write about every week.
Last weekend for example I planned a trip to Kurume by train. So I went to Hakata Station to enter the train. I was at platform No.1 but not sure if the train was for Kurume Station. So I asked the train conductor....he was in hurry and he answered shortly "uuuuuunnnn!!!!!" In German mmhhhh .... means "yes" So I felt sure to enter the next train at platform 1. But the train didn't stop there and I realized that I went to the opposite direction......!!! Next day my Japanese teacher explained me that "uuunnnn" means "NO". Totally different from German!!!
