Interview With The Manga Course Teacher

We interviewed a teacher, Ms Shoko Yoshimura who has Manga course and Manga activity at Asahi Nihongo.

-Where are you from? What do you do?
●I'm from Fukuoka, Japan and I'm an illustrator.

-Why did you start teaching Manga?
●I had a home-stay student from Asahi Nihongo and I drew a student's portrait for souvenir. He was pleased with it because he likes 'anime' and he told about the portrait to his friends at the school. I knew some students want to draw Manga but they don't know how to do it and the same time Asahi Nihongo offered me this position.

-What is the interest of Manga and how do you feel about Manga, which is so popular over the world?
●I think Manga is one of the international communication tools. 'Fruit Basket', 'Naruto' and other Japanese Manga were read over the wold. Even if you cannot speak the native language well in Japan or abroad, the mind runs each other if both people like Manga.

-How do you feel about the students at Manga course/activity?
●They have their own original ideas. Those ideas reflect to draw Manga such as the way of using screens which usually we don't do. I'm also effected and enjoys the lesson.

Thank you for answering the questionnaires. It was fun to know Manga.

(Using a lot of screens at the lesson)
