3rd Summer Camp in Yame

Students of Asahi Nihongo gathered for our 3rd Summer camp Saturday 14th, 2010. One of our students, Pablo, joined our Summer camp for the second time. The focus of the summer camp was language and cultural exchanges between overseas students and Japanese. This time we joined another Organization named NICE. On Saturday we arrived around 12 o'clock at our accommodation. It was a remodeled traditional Japanese house. So beautiful! After lunch, we made Japanese paper art (origami) by ourselves. And then, we went to the river to cool down a little and get ready for the concert that night. The concert was organized by Groundwork, an NPO. We work together sometimes. Next day, Sunday, we decided to drive around and enjoy the beautiful mountains. We gave up the mud bath and switched to a pool on the top of a mountain with a fabulous view. Then, we went to an onsen (hot springs), and at night, we had BBQ with the people of the village. They showed us, how to cook rice in bamboo! Monday, the last day, we got up late and just went to the river. After that, we helped prepare the Mantosai, a traditional lantern festival. At night, we enjoyed the beautiful view of floating lanterns in the river. Tuesday morning, we got up very late, cleaned up the house and went back to Fukuoka. It was an unforgettable experience, again, this year. We hope to see you again next year.
