I made an Internship at HU-Connect from 09.05.2009 to 17.06.2009.
HU-Connect is a small IT company, active on various fields. The services of HU-connect range from consultancy to custom-tailored WEB solutions for their customers:

Every week I worked from Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 16:00 pm with one hour lunch break. I had one large task: To create a iPhone App providing information on the Gokusho district of Fukuoka. I was given a detailed description on the required features and masks. More precisely, my tasks were as follows:
• get familiar with the iPhone SDK and App programming
• implementation of different iPhone masks (e.g. main menu, user preferences, about information, POI detail page) and their navigation flow.
• integration of Google Maps
• retrieving data for the map POIs from an Excel sheet (csv format)
• creation of a gallery retrieving it's content dynamically from a WEB gallery of the gokusho.info web site
• possibility of voice guide playback, if available for this POI
• integration of twitter and Facebook to post tweets / wall entries out of the app
With the Internship in Japan, I wanted to make new experiences concerning the work life in a Japanese company and to make new cultural experiences to see where the differences between Germany and Japan are.
Through this internship at HU-Connect I had the possibility to achieve those goals. I could get an insight in a japanese company and the daily working procedure. It was fun to implement a iPhone app, which was completely new for me. I could work self-contained and I could produce new ideas. The internship was great experience and I had a lot of fun. Everybody was really nice to me, and I felt more like a guest than someone working there. In addition I was introduced to the Hakata style cuisine and the surrounding of the office while we were getting out for lunch nearly every day.
