Yes you can send your luggage ahead to the school when you arrive in Japan. At every airport you can use an Airport Takyubin or courier service, which is relatively cheap in Japan. At one of the many courier counters in each airport you can hand in your luggage and then choose where and on which day you want your it to arrive at a selected address. This is very useful for people arriving in Japan and deciding to stay at one place for a specific period of time before travelling on to their expected destination.One of the most popular companies is Yamamoto or KuroNeko (meaning black cat in Japanese).
