Every week I worked from Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 15:00. My tasks were to support the office work, like internet researches, creation and translating flyer and pamphlets from Japanese into English for new environmental projects and events. At the weekends I often went to Joyo, a mountainous area near Fukuoka. Together with staff from Groundwork and volunteers I visited the blind school, working in a herb garden or joining other activities like planting potatoes and Warabekan, the children’s museum. Afterwards I summarized reports about the last events and uploaded our internet blog. I also contacted people via e-mail to introduce our news or events.
Moreover I cleaned the rooms and prepared them for meetings/
With the internship in Japan, I wanted to make new experiences concerning the work life in a Japanese Non-Profit Organisation and I wanted to improve my language skills that I have learned in Germany.
Moreover I wanted to make new cultural experiences to see where are the differences between Germany and Japan/
Through this internship at Groundwork Fukuoka I made many good experiences concerning organisation and preparation of environmental programs. Translating work was sometimes a big challenge, but I really could improve my Japanese and English language skulls.
The internship was a great experience and I had a lot of fun. Everybody was nice to me and there was really an open-minded and friendly working atmosphere ant the NPO.
Every time I had problems or questions they helped me immediately and I really got this feeling to be a member of the company and to get responsible tasks.
