Nice to meet you. My name is Saki, I am a student at Kagoshima University and currently doing an internship at Asahi Nihongo.

My major at university is Chemistry.

Last year, I went to Canada for working holiday because I am very interested in international relations. I hope I can use the experience I got in Japan and Canada to support Asahi Nihongo and its students.

My name is Gautam,I am from India. I am studying in Kyushu Sangyo University. My major is ‘International Mnagement’.

"Level Up" Japanese Tutorial

Introduction:

Everybody knows you can take Japaneses classes at our school. But we do not stop there.
On every Thursday, we offer the "Level Up" Japanese Tutorial.

The most important part of learning a foreign language is being able to express yourself. This can only be done by speaking! Speaking is the best way to practice and gain confidence.

We give you an environment where you can practice your skills with other students and get support from a native Japanese teacher. Our teacher will guide you, raise your skill and keep your motivation up all of the time.

You will learn how to use Japanese in the best way, and get skills that you can use in the future. If you have a pasion for Japanese, you will get the tools and methods you need to express yourself and lead discussions.

For example, we encourage you to prepare a presentation in Japanese about a topic you like, you can share it with fellow students and get useful tipps and advice from our teacher.

Interview about accommodations!

Asahi Nihongo School offers various accommodations to our students for a comfortable stay in Fukuoka. There are accommodations to suit your wishes. Now, I interviewed Asahi Nihongo students who live in Fukuoka. They are living in various accommodations.

Homestay  Katja-San
 I am staying with a host family. My host family is very kind, so I feel like a real family member. We often go out on weekends and cook Japanese foods (ex. Chanpon, Tempura) together as family. Of course, I can practice Japanese with this homestay. And I have the privacy of my single room.
 
Flat share  Natalie-San
 The rent is very economical because I am sharing our room with Samantha. Our room is located in the center of Fukuoka and easy to reach by public transportation. And flat share is freer than a homestay. For example there is no curfew and we can cook freely. I can spend pleasant times there because of my roommate.

Dormitory  Wells-San
 I am staying at Geshuku Tomo. It is a Japanese traditional style dormitory. The landlady is very kind and the food that she cooks is so delicious! I can come and go freely because there is no curfew. There is a comfortable tatami room for one person in dormitory. So I can manage a bit of privacy.

Can I send my luggage ahead to the school?

Yes you can send your luggage ahead to the school when you arrive in Japan. At every airport you can use an Airport Takyubin or courier service, which is relatively cheap in Japan. At one of the many courier counters in each airport you can hand in your luggage and then choose where and on which day you want your it to arrive at a selected address. This is very useful for people arriving in Japan and deciding to stay at one place for a specific period of time before travelling on to their expected destination.

One of the most popular companies is Yamamoto or KuroNeko (meaning black cat in Japanese). They are present at virtually every airport in Japan and have reasonable price for sending your luggage ahead. Please check out their website.

K-Why did you come to Japan?
Ju-To study Japanese.
Ja-I also just wanted to study Japanese at first,but now I enjoy my self here with my friends who are like myfamily.

K- What do you do in your free time?
Ju-I study a little, go to Karaoke and so on.
Ja-I go to the bar or the beach.

K-Which place do you like the best?
Ju-Momochihama,Ohori and the library in Momochi.
Ja-Tenjin.

K-which foods do you like?
Ju-Inarizushi and a meron-flavored bun.
Ja-Grilled meat and grilled chicken is also good!In my country,I also eat those frequently.Those in Japan are very delicious!

Both Jannius and Julie can speak Japanese well,so that is why I talked with them in Japanese.When I spoke to them,they were studying,however,it is kind of them to agree this intervew.

Company anniversary today - 12 years of Asahi Nihongo and Ritter School

Today is our 12th company anniversary. Misa and I found Asahi Nihongo and Ritter School exactly 12 years ago. We are the first language school in Japan that offers Japanese language courses with internships, cultural activities, home stays, language exchange (Tandem) and exciting marine sports. IELTS

During my stay in Japan, I have encountered several people who don't really know much about the IELTS.

The IELTS is a standardized English test that measures your ability to think, understand, write, and use the English language in an academic environment, the test's result is an important requirement to apply for schools and universities in English speaking countries such as The U.K., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, The U.S. and other countries in Europe. If you wish to study abroad, perhaps you should learn more about this test, and how to prepare for it.

Our Heartfelt Sympathies to Tohoku Japan

On March 11, 2011, the largest earthquake in Japanese recorded history struck the Tohoko region in northeastern Japan. There was a great tsunami set off by the earthquake and tens of thousands of people lost their lives or their loved ones. The Japanese authorities have confirmed over 10,000 people have died and thousands are still missing.

In the midst of this natural disaster, there is nuclear disaster as a nuclear plant in Fukushima damaged by the quake had a quasi-meltdown. People around the plant have been evacuated and people in the northeast are concerned about the longterm effects of the dangerous leak.

We deeply hope that the victims will receive the help they need, the support they deserve, and everyone affected will reflect on the importance of the lessons learned from this catastophic event and the strength of the people that have survived it.

Support the people of Tohoku and Japan!

German Tutorial Class with Students of Asahi Nihongo

First we're sorry for causing trouble to our students in German classes when some German teachers returned to their home country because of earthquake and tsunami concerns. So there was no choice but for us to cancel the German Tutorial class, though to our unexpected delight, some Ritter students asked to use a class room to study German by themselves on Fri. at 17:00 instead of Tutorial. After which, some students from Germany at Asahi Nihongo heard from their Japanese tandem partner, who is one of the self-study students, and told them that even though they cannot their teacher, they would like to help them study German. We're so impressed with this happening!

These are the photos of our self-study class and volunteer teachers, Sonya-san(left) and Ulrike-san(right). They've been studying Japanese with a very strong will to stay in Japan after the earthquake. We can lead a normal life and stay stay safe in Fukuoka, so they enjoy themselves here, and even went to the beach last weekend to play volleyball. We heard they said they want to help out because of the situation now and they are willing to participate in the self-study class again. In addition, other students have also offered their help. Thank you everyone!

F- Hello!

K- Hello!

F- May I have your name please?

K- I'm Katrin Stamm.

F- I'm heard about you , you were an ASAHI NIHONGO student before.　How long ago?

K- It was 3 years ago. I learned Japanese language for a month, after that I worked at a Japanese company for 3 months as an intern.

F- What's your purpose this time?

K- I love Japan!!! I came to Japan for the purpose of speaking Japanese very well more than now.

F- How did you come across the opportunity to train in teaching the German language at Ritter School?

K- I worked at a German National tourist Board in Tokyo. There is a main office in Frankfurt.
When I worried about my terrible experience after the earthquake in Touhoku - Kanto area, the owner of Ritter School told me "Fukuoka is safe!!!" And I've just arrived at Fukuoka.

F- Really, My heart was saddened by the earthquake. What do you like about Fukuoka and Tokyo?

K- There are many attractive places to enjoy myself in Tokyo. And in Fukuoka there is a sea nearby town, and it's not crowded on the street which make me feel quite comfortable.

F- What do you usually do on your weekend?

K- I usually meet my friends and shop.

F- So, this is my last question. What are your plans from now?

K- I love Japan very much!!I want to get a job related to Japan and after keep on studying Japanese language.

Katrin is beautiful with brilliantly blond hair, but I could see she was terrified by the earthquake still despite that, she answered my question in this interview while smiling.

I felt her heart must love Japan since she decided to remain in Japan after all of her friends went back to Germany. I'm looking forward to hearing that you become a teacher of German after training.

L - I'm Letizia Battuto.

Y - Where are you from?

L - I'm from Milan in Italy. I'm a University of Miran student and sophomore. I'm studying Japanese and Chinese at the University.

Y - Wow! Great!

Y - Is it the first time to come to Japan?

L - No, second time. I stayed in Tokyo last summer.

Y - How long are you going to stay?

L - 3 months.

Y - Where are you staying now?

L - I'm staying in flatshare. I'm living with 2 german girls.

Y - How about Fukuoka?

L - Interesting!! I love a Ohori park. It's peaceful and lovely. There are too many people and prices are high in Tokyo, so I love Fukuoka. Everything is different between Italy and Japan. Especially, I was so surprised vehicles drive on the left in this coutry.

Y - What were you doing on your weekend?

L - I shopped with some of my friends. I went to Ropponmatsu to eat Sushi at a revolving sushi bar. It was delicious!!! I love Japanese foods. Especially, I like Okonomiyaki!

Y - Why did you come to Japan?

L - Because, I love Japanese things. When I was in Junior-High, I loved Manga and Anime, but now I love Japanese culture.

Y - So, why did you choose an ASAHI NIHONGO school?

L - I saw an ASAHI NIHONGO website on Internet. And I don't know why, a map of Fukuoka had been tucked on my notebook of my childhood!! That's why I chose here.

Y - How is your class?

L - Interesting.

Y - Ok, this is my last question. What are you going to do in Japan?

A - I don't know.

Y - Why don't you join any activities? How about Ohanami?

A - Ohanami!! I definitely wanna watch Cherry blossoms. I'm so psyched!

Letizia san is very good commander of Japanese, actually. By the way, I was so surprised she had a map of Fukuoka since she was child. It was destiny, wasn't it? She was so friendly and lovely, and I found she loves Japan a lot.

A - Well, I went to a trainig school and I got a diploma, and I was working as a warehouse clerk.

Y - Why did you come to Japan?

A - For studying Japanese.

A - It's cheaper staying here than going back to a praivate school in Austria.

Y - Ok. Can you tell me good things about Japan?

A - Because, it's funny, warm, friendly, good food, sweets and bakeries. Especially, raisin breads. It's cheap and delicious.

Y - This is my last question. Do you have some plans you want to do in Japan?

A - I wanna study Japanese legends. For example, about a fox, a tanuki(racoon dog)and a kappa(a water imp).

He's surely enjoy this Fukuoka city. By the way, He loves "Tokkei Winspector" and Toshiba. Do you know "Tokkei Winspector"?

Let's go to Outside lesson!

It was a very nice weather in the afthernoon on March 14 in Fukuoka. In order to release the stress out of the earthquake and the related news, we did 'Aozora Kyoshitsu', outside lesson at Ohori Park. We had lunch uner the sky, took a walk and met 3 high school girls, who are the students of Wakaba High

School and belong to 'Tsugaru-jamisen' club. 'Tsugaru' is the place name in Aomori, where is famouse for shamisen and 'jamisen' is the same as a three-sringed insrument called 'shamisen'.

They performed 2 pieces for us and they were very well. We were impressed by them.
We enjoyed the outside lesson and had a good time together.

How to use Japanese keyboard

I will teach you about how to use Japanese keyboard.

What is different a between a Japanese keyboard and American keyboard?? The Japanese type keyboard using American English.

How to type Japanese
1.Right click the IME language bar and click the `settings`button
2.Click `add` then, choose Japanese in the language bar.
3. Click `OK`
4. Click the IME language bar and choose JP button
5.Click the input mode and choose ひらがな（hiragana)

How to type the word Nihon in Kanji.
After you choose the hiragana input mode you can type inRO-MAN-JI

1.Type`NI HO N` in RO-MAN-JI you will see `にほん`in Hiragana

2.After that click the space key then choose the proper kanji `日本`

Now you can type Nihon in Kanji!!

Q: When did you become interested in Japan?

A: I became interested in Japan 2 years ago.

Q: Why did you become interested in Japan?
A: The videos in Tokyo and Kyoto interested me when I was watching them.

Q: How would you like to turn your previous experience in Japan to advance?

A: I'm going to major in Japanese at university in Vienna from March.

We had an interview with Asahi Nihongo student!

His name is Mr.Rowan Carmichael, who came from Australia.

We asked him some questions about Fukuoka, mainly this time.

Q: Why did you choose Fukuoka to study Japanese?

A: The destination of the overseas program at Tasmania University was Fukuoka.

Q: What is your best memory during your stay in Fukuoka?

A: Going to a Vincent van Gogh exhiibition at Kyushu National Museum in Dazaifu was the best.

Q: Do you have any favorite place in Fukuoka?

A: My favorite places are Oohori Park and Fukuoka Art Museum. (The museum is extremely beautiful.)

Q: What do you want to do in the rest of your stay in Fukuoka?

A: I'd like to eat ramen at the ramen stand.

I also went there with my friend from foreign country, and she was surprised to see the works by Vincent van Gogh in Fukuoka.
