Well what can i say, when the Japanese arrange a race or a contest it is really grand, especially when taking in to account that this contest is held in the country side or mountain side which would make more sense, this being Japan.But back to the topic which this blog is all about. The Kinma Race 2010, well its more like the annual Kinma race I think.
The race it self is basically a time trial in which a 5 person team pulls 400kg's of rice on a special sled from the starting line around a pole and back, and because there is so many teams competing each team only get one try at it. Our team got the time 23.51sec. But the winning team got 17.7sec. But still keep in mind that the winning team have been training all year for this.
The 1st prize is 300,000yen with is about 3,600usd. So it is definitely a serious competition. But also a funny and friendly one, because many of the participating teams do it for amusement, well that is my understanding at least.
